If you're hairy, keep it. You can trim, but it's not worth the pain and irritation to wax your chest. Anyone who turns you down for that is not worth anything.
I personally didn't think I'd like chest hair until I started dating a guy who had it. It is awesome. My only suggestion would be to trim near the top so you can't see it over your shirt collar if you're wearing a slight v-neck. I would not suggest waxing at this point since it would hurt like a bitch.
Even if the person you're seeing isn't the most into chest hair, you can be sure they'll like it better than stubble and/or ingrown hairs with huge pimples. It's just not worth it unless you can invest all the time it takes to keep it up.
If youre super hairy, DON'T WAX. You will get ingrown hairs and it will suck a lot. Just learn to love your hair, there's nothing wrong or weird about it.
