QUESTION: Any recommended 4th year science electives? I'm going into my 4B term, in Bio, Molecular Bio+Biotech specialization, minors in chem and biophys.
I want something interesting but not too difficult. So far my term has Biol 469, 434, 483 and Phys 491.
469?
ReplyDelete483 was pretty easy. but have to do a 3 min presentation to the whole class.
469 is a new course this fall called genomics
DeleteBiol 439.
ReplyDeleteMidterm worth 50%, Exam (non-cumulative) worth 50%, and an optional, bonus assignment "on anything in the course" for a potential extra 10%.
Thanks for the suggestion! I already took 439 though (If anyone is reading this then I also suggest it. Easily one of my highest marks.) I guess this would be easier if I listed the 4th year bio courses I already took.

@2a, re: 484, what did you make of his assignments? i did well overall but totally bombed them, they seemed far too difficult
DeleteAssignments were definitely the toughest part of the course, but I managed to do extremely well on the final and came out of the course with a good mark.
DeleteI don't mind when assignments are difficult but I wish he was a bit more generous when marking them.
Are there any courses that have stuff on stem cells? Would 303 have it?
ReplyDelete303 for sure not. sadly i don't think there is course like that in UW. not too surprising though
DeleteOP here, my short list consists of
ReplyDeleteBiol 303 - embryo
Biol 472 - disease cell bio
Sci 206 - phys of how things work (usually full though)
Biol 359 - evolution (i heard he makes it tricky on purpose though)
