QUESTION: My bruised and battered GPA needs your help deciding between BIOL 303 (Dev. & Embryol.) and BIOL 308 (Molecular). I have to take one of these two during a Calculus and Stats-filled term, which are subjects that I have traditionally struggled with. I am not a slacker, and I love biology but I am looking for the least challenging of the two. Thank you!

  1. They're both material-heavy and require time answering study questions .. I did 1% better in 303 compared to 308 but I took 308 1 year earlier alongside 309. I think 303 was more interesting than learning about the complexities of transcription/translation.

  2. Just make sure if you take 308, it ain't with Wolff (you will die). I heard Dragana is good for that class.

  3. definitely 308 - less memorizing more understanding. doesn't sound like you're a pro memorizer, so stick with 308. Dragana's good.
@1 lol 309 how fucking old are you?

    1. I took 309 a year ago? I don't understand this.

    2. wasn't it broken down into 308 and 303 like 3 years ago?

  4. I took both course with Dr. Dragana and I did much better on 303, but her exams are very fair and she gives out study questions for both courses that compromise 70% of the midterms and finals, so if you put in the effort and keep up with the work (don't cram!), you'll be fine.

  5. 303 was interesting, but DO NOT take it with Reed. I repeat: do not. 308 was less interesting.

    1. Yes, I agree. Reed was the worst! I would've done better if I had Dragana instead for 303.

  6. 308 was a good course even with Wolff! Its hard work but its interesting. I haven't taken 303 though so I can't compare it to that...

  7. Take whichever one Dragana is teaching. She has study questions that make up about 70% or more of the final.

    1. Reed also does the study question thing for 303.

  8. 303 was a complete nightmare for me and I loved 308! I thought it was really interesting, but I'm in a biotech specialization so that's probably to be expected.

  9. 308 was extremely boring for me and I just can't do it. 303 was at least kind of interesting, and the final was made up of 100% study questions given to you previously (as opposed to 70% in 308), so I ended up with a 90 in that. Both have lots of material that needs to be memorized, I cant say one is less than the other. Worth noting that I took both with Dragana, and I'm pretty sure she's the best to take them with.
