QUESTION:
My roommate confessed fantasizing about committing acts of rape, what should I do?

  1. Fantasizing is not the same as gathering materials and laying out a plan.

    You're not the thought police.

  2. Lol are you serious? That's like the most common thing, go to any porn website and "rape" will be in the Top 10.
Is he actually planning on raping someone or you imagine that because he was talking shit while drunk?

  3. It's a normal, and fairly common fantasy. As long as they don't express interest in actually raping someone there's nothing you should do or should worry about. On the flip side of this many people have the fantasy of being raped, it's not about the act itself, it's the exchange of power.

    4. thats the point of a rape fantasy i don't see where you are going with this or why BDSM was brought up.

    5. 6c. so you mean to tell me in no way shape or form in any time of your existence you have never ever thought of harming anyone in any way? You've never been angry and fabricated a thought of you strangling or punching someone?

A rape fantasy is just that. a fantasy. people who would actually act out those fantasies in a non-consensual way are definitely not your average person and can't be helped by telling them "don't rape" or "don't think about raping anyone". We're told growing up not to kill and most don't, but there are few people still do it anyways regardless of what they are taught or what is acceptable. There's nothing wrong with the healthy expression of fantasy in one's own mind as long as that's where it stays.
