QUESTION: Can an instructor assign homework to be due DURING READING WEEK? This
somehow feels wrong...if I were to contest this what I would say for a
convincing argument?
The union agreement with the faculty is that Reading Week is a NON-TEACHING PERIOD...is assigning a due date in the fucking middle of the week outside of his permitted union workload?! ANYONE?!?!
Just do the assignment beforehand if you're that worried about it. I'm probably spending most of my week working on assignments due immediately after reading week anyways, what's the difference? The school won't care that you have to hand something in over reading week, it's just a break from going to classes, not from being a student.
Yes they can, just do the assignment. Is doing an assignment going to ruin your reading week? If so then just do it now so you don't have work on it during your break. Just be glad they didn't put the due date the week before reading week when you have tons or midterms.
OP here. I'm an honours graduate student. Its the principle. Reading week is meant to target stress reduction. I'm finished the assignment and I also struggle with mental health issues. I'm less retarded than the people asking about chubby asses or, "how do I talk to people I see every day blah blah". Its one of many issues I have with my program coordinator where he disregards students (no show for classes, pretentious, overstepping bounds, horrible program...) and I figured some UW assholes would put their asshole troll minds to work to make an effective argument. Because I KNOW there is someone who feels me...
