QUESTION: I am super bad at holding up conversations with people, in particular, people I don't really know and are either peers or acquaintances. Some would even call me socially awkward. I am a female btw. What do you normally talk about? How do you deal with awkward pauses which seem like end of conversations but generally are not?

  1. Keep talking to someone and try to find something YOU find interesting and they are also into. Then just ask them about it. People like to talk about themselves. All you have to do is ask and be genuinely interested.

  2. ^ ditto. Another question that generally works well (for people that you semi-know) is to simply ask how their day is going. If they admit they've been having a shit day, be genuine and listen. Sometimes all anyone needs is a good rant.

  3. Are you ugly? I find that's often the common denominator.

    1. I would've assumed the opposite. Like, don't people usually say that ugly people would have to develop a personality to make up for being so damn ugly. I don't agree with this- I think naturally ugly people are usually also naturally stupider while naturally attractive people are usually also naturally smarter but don't most people joke about the oppposite of that being true?
