QUESTION: Those who have bought their own car without having your parents help with the car or school: what did you get and how much was it? I want to buy a new wrx, but not sure if it's too much for a student.
If you're not getting help from your parents, a new WRX is a really bad idea. You should definitely be buying used. Aim for less than $7000. You can get a really decent car for that. I personally spent 3 grand on my truck.
On the other hand you could just lease a vehicle, because if you're buying new it will depreciate like crazy. Buy what appreciates and lease what depreciates.
You're parents don't help you with school or your vehicle but you can afford a new wrx? You wouldn't happen to know where I can buy some 'medicine', would you? I feel like you might know a good place to get 'a prescription filled' ;) ;). If ya know what I mean. Either that or you're full of shit and just another grown ass dude still sucking on his momma's titty. Probably the latter.
Had amazing co-ops, and would get a loan to buy it. Can't afford it in cash. I could put a 50% down payment, and the rest would have to be on loan, so i would probably do a 25% dp so I would still have some savings if I need it.
The most my parents have helped was moving costs for one co-op. I pay my own rent/bills/tuition/everything
2006 Mazda. Bought it just over 5 years ago. $14,000.
ReplyDeleteStill going strong!

But I want to do a stage 2 upgrade, probably breaks lease contract. Used would work, but I don't trust people.

ReplyDeleteWe don't know what your tuition is, how much school you have left, co-op salary, money in bank etc.

It's definitely possible - I had 30k saved up by first year and co-op helped add to that.
