However, the offer is targeted to uwaterloo employees and not students so if you're going to do something unethical and take that discount you might as well torrent it...
I was told by the I.T. department of Feds (Which is housed in that funny little Floor 1.5 office space in the SLC) that they provide office for free to students, along with a couple of other softwares
OpenOffice is a free program and it's a MUCH better alternative to Word. Not only does it allow you to use it just like Word, it also functions like Excel, Powerpoint, and much more. You can also save your files as your standard Microsoft program files. It's available for both Mac and Windows so operating system capabilities should not be a problem. :) https://www.openoffice.org/
