QUESTION: I got 'outstanding' evaluations for my first 2 work terms. Does that really give me an edge over other students? Or do a lot of people get outstandings?

  1. I would say less than 5-10% receive outstanding if that, if your evaluations are from the same company it's worth a bit less but even still 99% of people are not going to have 2x outstanding on their first work terms.

  2. Well I had outstandings for my first 2 terms, decent marks and a (supposedly) well-written resume. I ended up not getting a single job offer and had to drop co-op! Yay!

  3. I had outstandings for my 1st and 3rd co-op. They help a tremendous amount. You do have a significant edge on others. You're resume is still very important though and if you can't close an interview you're SOL.

  4. I screened resumes a while ago. It definitely makes you stand out, and it'll get you 1/3 of the way to an interview. Your resume makes up the remaining 2/3.
