QUESTION: How do I make friends on co-op in somewhere far from waterloo? I'm basically just go from work to gym to home everyday and the only socializing I'm doing is by travelling or skype... how to do friendship?
If you are in Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver or Calgary, check Facebook for Co-op Connection, a service run by Feds to help connect people while on co-op. If you aren in a different city, try starting a facebook group for your city and see who might be out there!
It is trash. There's only been one event so far: A month ago. However, I've read that a few Waterloo co-ops are meeting for Nuit Blanche. Doesn't hurt to go :)
Other than that, just post the on FB page. People are usually willing to hang out. You just really have to go out of your way to make an effort and talk to people.
Don't just assume others will set up the exact event you want, it takes seconds to post asking if anyone wants to go to somewhere. Or just go do what everyone else is doing, even if its not exactly what you want, you will meet people.
^ This. The only thing that bugs me are the moderators/mentors of co-op connection. So far there's only been one actual event that was set-up by them (and those who were under 19 weren't even allowed). Why bother calling yourself a Feds service when there is no actual service? I could just make another FB group with co-ops without moderators, and it would be the same thing...
