QUESTION: Other than AIDS, are any of the more common STDs really that bad? Don't they at worst just require taking some pills or antibiotics? Is it worth wearing condoms?
This question is a bit silly but I'll give a full answer because its important people understand: STD's can range from mild inconvenience to a lifetime of debilitated sex and relationships, to disability and death. The scary part is you can not know until its too late and in many cases how serious the symptoms are is completely random.
Take Herpes. Anyone who has had sex with anyone who isn't a virgin could have it. ANYONE. You can be dating exclusively for months and only find out that one of you had it going in. No symptoms for one person becomes monthly painful sores for the rest of your life. HSV is so common that they don't test for it in a normal panel. You're likely to come back positive for one or the other type and have no idea wtf to do about it. You can also go blind...
So yes, if you're hooking up wear a condom for christsake. It doubles as another layer of contraception for the pill and you're just so much lass likely to ruin your life. If you and your partner have both been tested and are exclusive then its up to you. They might still have something, you might still have something but you know the odds are low and you love each other. i get it.
Source: Research in HSV means I've read way more papers on the stuff than anyone probably should.
Herpes, hepatitis, HPV...you should probably do some research.
ReplyDeletewhy the fuck is this even a question?
ReplyDeleteHELLO?! pregnancy! .... antibiotics can't cure that shit
There are so many other methods of contraception.
DeleteOP here. This is assuming you're using some other form of birth control
DeletePregnancy is easier to get rid of than herpes. Herpes is forever.
DeleteEveryone has herpes
DeleteViruses. can't really do anything about them and you will be a pariah to anyone you try to sleep with in the future. good luck.
ReplyDeleteDo you WANT to take pills for the rest of your life?
