  1. Your phone should be fine, but you may find that you're so busy that you don't even need it! For Monte Carlo I wore a cocktail dress with heels, and so did a lot of my friends.

  5. Definitely bring your phone to get people's numbers to meet up later and such. Start random text convos with everyone you think would be fun to hang out with, you'll having fun things to do all week.

  6. Sure you can wear a dress. BUT the thing is taking place in the SLC, which is a shithole, and it's not the classiest thing ever.

Just slap on some clubbing gear and you're good to go. Bring your phone.

  7. For the phone, it depends on the faculty. Engineering is my faculty and it tends to be the messiest during orientation week, so as a frosh I left my phone but as a leader I had it in my pocket in a plastic baggy. I would say it's up to you whether or not to bring it, having in on you means you can get numbers during the day but not having it on you means you can focus on the activities and team building more (it sucks when a team of frosh is just texting and not focusing on the challenges!). You also get to go back to rez often between activities, for example you might have faculty programming all morning but then around late afternoon you are done and can go back to rez and grab your phone, at least that's what I did. But if you do choose to have it on you, wear deep pockets and keep it in plastic if possible, if you are paranoid.

Monte Carlo ranges from sundresses and flats to full length gowns. It's not a big deal what you wear to it, people for the most part don't tend to judge/care what each other wears but the intent is for everyone to have the opportunity to get fancy :) Heels are fine and you will see lots of them!

  8. Bring your phone and get numbers of people that you meet. It gets pretty hectic during frosh week and it's easy to fall out of contact with people you really want to become friends with when you're meeting so many new people.
