QUESTION: How are people so successful? So many start ups lately..

  1. Start-up does not equal success. The university just loves trumpeting them because most people don't realize this. I automatically tune-out when someone mentions start-ups. You'll get there too.

    1. Agreed: a lot of start ups end up failing.

  2. Agree with 1, its the next bubble (internet, housing...)

  3. Part of it is luck. I am going to make a start up once I graduate based on an the topic my project course group picked. It was the hardest topic available, and we just thought it would be fun to work on, and didn't expect to make a profitable product.

  5. Lol. Half the startup ideas are stupid as hell and will fail as soon as the money runs dry

  6. Apparently 8 out of 9 start ups fail, my suggestion is to talk to older working people in various industries and get their wish lists for equipment, products, apps that is on their "if only" list.

You need the real life real work experience from those businesses to know that and these students doing these start ups just haven't been there.

So find some industries and if you can get operations managers saying if only we had a technology to do "this" from out in the field at low cost, now you have a good problem to solve and perhaps make a good business.. Look up DejeroLabs, Dejero live. TV stations used to use million dollar satellite trucks until this company came along and solved an existing problem.
