QUESTION: Can someone please explain to me why people care about the world cup so much? I can't wrap my head around it. Why are non-Germans who didn't bet on the game cruising up and down the streets honking as if something great happened to them?

  1. Just because someone is of a different background doesn't mean they can't support another country's team. I'm happy and would've celebrated for any team that won. Heck I'd celebrate for any team that made it that far since I don't have any soccer skills.

  2. I'm not German but I've been supporting Germany for ages. They're an incredible team and I just love the World Cup spirit and how it brings almost everyone together. Heck, if I had a car I would be cruising down the streets with my friends as well.
I know you're not bashing soccer, but bashing soccer is also something that I've heard repeatedly since the beginning of the World Cup and how it's not a "real sport". That's what REALLY gets on my nerves.

  4. I'm German, well part, and I don't feel any need to go out celebrating. I like football, but hate FIFA. I am very proud of Germany, and any team that played well and fairly, and the idea of a world cup, just won't support FIFA.

A lot of the non Germans who go around celebrating either don't have their team in the world cup, or switched to Germany once they were in the final to make it seam like they always knew they were going to win, and want to make sure everyone knows.

I will only cheer for Canada, Germany, and England, in that order. Once they are all out (if they made it), I will watch the games, but not really care who wins.

  5. WATCHING SPORTS IS FUCKING STUPID.

There I said it, I have zero respect for any meathead that thinks he has accomplished something because "his" team won. It pathetic but these types of people don't have anything to be proud about in their own lie\ves so I guess I'll let them pretend with someone else's.

  6. Sports in general is stupid. What's the point running around trying to get a ball into a net?
Probably soon enough (I hope) we will have medicines and surgeries to replace need of physical exercise and the only kind of achievement will be mental and intellectual. By that time sports will be fully obsolete.
    I hate sports.

    1. It's ok. You'll be able to kick a ball into a net one day if you try hard enough. Don't be bitter. I have faith in you :).
