Control your portions, do everything you can to limit yourself from places where food is accessible. Make yourself busy, so you aren't thinking about food.
I have suffered with this for eight years now and it has affected my life in every way. I have recently been getting a lot better and haven't binged now for a couple months. Although I thought I was done with the dieting and obsessing about food, it was only now after beginning to eat every 3 hours and having normal and healthy sized meals that I realized how presistant of a problem it still is. Honestly, it sounds like stupid advice but if you stop restricting foods, eat frequently and allow yourself treats every now and then, your body will start to re-learn when you are full, and will start to function normally again...including not sending out the anxiety signal for you to binge. Also start recording down everything you eat to start becoming aware of what you are lacking, feeling, and going wrong.
It doesn't happen over night and you will probably still binge once in a while but if you do this they will start to lessen and eventually you will regain control. I know its hard but stay strong, and get on with living :)
Wow, was that really necessary? I just wanted to feel a little bit better knowing I wasn't alone. It's not just about self control. I am recovering from anorexia and I've starved myself for so long I lack the cues to stop eating. It's been difficult as I haven't told anyone, not even those closest to me. I just wanted a little bit of support.
Ignore these silly comments from people who don't understand eating disorders. You are NOT alone. Please reach out either to your friends, family or a professional. I really like the online community, check out Kati Morton on YouTube.

DeleteDon't worry OP. We have our struggles, and some people have struggles with basic human empathy. Hopefully we'll all get there one day!

ReplyDeleteIt's probably cuz you are hungry. Like everyone said, eat more regularly and you won't have this problem.
