QUESTION: Girls... do any of you get brazillian waxes? What happens? I am considering getting one, since I hate shaving down there, but love being smooth, so... any advice for a first timer in waxing?

  1. I have it done regularly and love the results! I go to Skin Indulgence - she is super professional and just chats with you so it doesn't feel awkward or anything like that. Won't lie - the first time was a little painful but it was manageable/not excruciating.

    1. OP here. Thanks! What I was worried about is it being awkward lol. Okay, that's good. I mean I've waxed my eyebrows many times, but I mean down there is different, because I think the skin is more sensitive...

How's the price at Skin Indulgence?

    2. @1a There's a $25 student special so it's very reasonable. One other thing I like is there are wipes provided to 'freshen up' beforehand when you're getting situated and aloe for afterwards :)

    3. I went to her too for my first waxing exeperience. Never waxed anything in my life and decided to start with a full brazilian. She kept things professional and it wasn't all that awkward. Just a bit awkward at first since you have to get take your pants off without her there and then kinda call her in(at least this was how it was when I went three years ago, I haven't been going recently because of a lack of funds)

  2. DIY just put an old candle in the microwave for like 20 minutes and pour it on your crotch

  3. It really isn't very awkward! I got a couple done at Bare Essentials (which operates out of a home). She put me at ease right away and it was over way faster than I thought. I recommend not taking a hot shower *immediately* before, since I've found I get more hairs breaking off instead of being plucked out.

  4. I've just started! Well it was my new years resolution and I haven't touched a razor since december. The first time hurt a lot for me because I have thick dark hair, but then it got better and better each time. I go once a month and the awkwardness has gone away completely. It was such a good decision.

When I'm in Waterloo, i go to Skin Indulgence. They're awesome there.

    1. I might actually non-ironically go there if they do and are discreet

    2. I just looked at Skin Indulgence's website and it's about double the price to wax your balls compared to a brazilian lol.

    3. It's probably also double the effort to wax balls I would the think. A brazillian doesn't really have much getting in the way of the waxing, but I imagine that the balls would require some kinda special technique for not fucking it up.
(I've always just waxed myself using those at-home kits.... I kinda want to go to a professional to do it, but never knew where to go....)

    4. Why not just shave? Does the woman in your life really require baby-smooth danglebarries? I've been shaving for a few years and while you don't get to be 100% smooth very long you do get a couple of weeks of minimal hair. Just moisturize after.

  6. I've been getting Brazilian waxes for about a year now and it's awesome! The first time will hurt quite a bit, depending on your pain tolerance, but it gets better as you go more often. Right now I go about once every 1.5 months. I really recommended it as it feels smooth and clean.

  8. The other option if you're willing to pay more (or concerned about pain) is sugaring. It's more expensive, but way less painful, and I find it lasts longer. They can also do it on any length of hair.
