  1. Meet people by interests - see if there are any sports teams. Or any time/place people play sports.
    Hang out in bars.
Ask co-workers. Make plans with them.
Buy a bike, and bike around town, or to nearby towns.

  4. Join community events. Honestly, your friends won't be the same age as you, but that's how small towns go. You meet people of all ages and learn to befriend them. Also, make a point of getting to know your neighbours and see what they do in a town that small.

  5. If you have your coaches card/ other certification and background checks done volunteer in one of your sports/ hobbies. Its a lot of fun, plus can really help out a strained local association or club.

  6. I used to live in a very small town for a co-op term. I mostly made friends with my landlord (I lived in her spare bedroom) and she was a super chill person. She introduced me to people, we went to the pubs together, watched TV together, etc. It ended up being not as horrible as I thought it'd be.
