QUESTION: Are there any events during orientation week related to LGBT community?

  1. Not that I've heard. They normally try to keep orientation week pretty general. I don't think there's anything in Welcome Week (first week of classes) either. Glow probably starts putting out events and such the second week of classes, but that's just a guess.

    1. I hope one day you find out your father is gay. This shit just isn't necessary.

  3. Orientation Week's events are usually general cross-campus events or faculty specific events. The only thing I could see is that Glow might have a booth set up if there are any days specific to clubs and services on campus. Glow will put on events throughout the term. They also have a room you can stop by in SLC, although I'm not sure if many people will be in there during O-Week since most upper years are either not back yet or busy as orientation leaders.

  4. Aren't like 3% of the population LGBT? There seems to be so much stuff accommodating them, we are in Canada and you not being persecuted for it.Should just leave it alone for goodness sake, not everything needs a LGBT event. There is GLOW and that is good because I understand that people still face bullying because of their orientation but still.

    1. 5, chill out. OP were just asking if there was an event-- they weren't stuffing it down your face insisting that we should have one.

    2. Yes 5a +1 shut up seriously unless you are gay, lesbian, bi or other you have no idea what it is like especially if you are from a small community which is rather homophobic.

    3. ^ Fuck off

Most of us have every idea what its like. You think being gay (or whatever label they decide to make up for themselves) is the only thing that people are discriminated against?

Its not, but somehow they think their problems are more important than everyelse's (which they fucking aren't, because its 2014 in Canada).

    4. So I am guessing you are gay then other wise you have no idea. You don't have to deal with telling your parents that you are black, or a woman or any of the multiple other categories people are discriminated against. And no I really don't think we think our problems are more important thats just how we deal with them. Also you are the proof that there is still a problem even though its Canada in 2014 and I have met several people who think I am a disgrace because I am gay. NOW YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP

  5. Hi OP,
During Orientation, Glow will have a Drag Show on the Tuesday during Variety night. As well, they will have regular office hours each day. If you have any questions, would like to help out, or would just like to be a part of it, chat with any of the awesome volunteers in the office. Thanks!
