Because Israel is committing war crimes on the Palestinian people...
Is it just me or is it quite ironic how it is now a Jewish army is performing genocide on a helpless people?
The conflicts in the Middle East point to a bigger problem in the world. I don't enjoy thinking that our country, and the rest of our "world leaders" are fine with these types of atrocities. I care because of principle.
I worry for a time when corporations can essentially declare war for profit, and can control the media and the government for the power to do so. Oh wait. That time was over 20 years ago.
Yeah Israel is fucking horrible, I really hope their leaders fucks up and disses the US and loses their support and then the world can truly condemn them for the monsters they are
You guys need to get educated. Google genocide for one. Hamas is the only organization launching on civilian targets. Meanwhile, Palestinians are dying because their "Liberators" are building launch sites and weapons chaches so close to civilian homes that targeted air strikes hit them too. You may or may not agree with Israel having been created but Arabs gave up their moral high ground when they immediately invaded and tried to take everything over with force. They were pushed back and have been having their butts handed to them ever since. But whatever, you can type "Zionist Pig" as a reply and feel better about yourself. Bet you've never slept in a bomb shelter while Palestinian missiles destroyed a toy factory outside your village.
First off 3e, I'm sorry that happened to you. I have in fact lived on the Israel side of things and I know it sucks bad either way. The reason I had a shelter and you didn't is just chance and the fact that while one side cares for its citizens the other does not. You can't deny that Arabs threw the first stone in trying to squash Israel right after it's conception and have been the ones initiating every single clash since then. That doesn't mean Israel hasn't done its share of warmongering but you can't honestly believe that if they stopped all military operations it would end in anything be their annihilation.
One side cares for its citizens while the other does not? No sir. You're wrong. One side has enough funding and support to guard it's citizens with top notch technology while the other survives on scraps because everything but oxygen has been cut off of them.
You think if Israel stopped their attacks they would be annihilated? You honestly believe that? I'm not sure if you're naive or just misinformed.
Well yeah, they made themselves the enemy and used force so force is used against them. If Hamas cared about the civilians they wouldn't be using them for cover. Also, maybe spending some of that missile money for food and shelter. In the end, no one is going to try and see things from the other sides perspective and the fighting will continue just is has here. And yeah, the Arab world has repeatedly and blatantly stated that they intend to wipe Israel off the map.
it's easy for you to comfortably sit behind your computer and have a calm and civilized discussion with little to no human emotion. excuse me if the stuff I've been through because of some idiotic political agenda, on both sides, makes me upset. I'm sorry I lash out like a normal human being. I'm sorry I'm practicing the right to express myself. I'm sorry I'm using my words, the only thing I've got left at this point, to try and tell people that what's going on right now is not justifiable. It is not okay. Under no circumstances should what is going on be alright! Why is that so hard to understand? Why must there always be a "but you started", "but we're defending ourselves", "but they took our land", "but they threaten our existence", but but but but. At what point do you put it behind you and move on?
Also don't expect any more responses on my end. This can only lead to trouble, and trust me, that's the last thing I want.
I was about to post much the same as your last paragraph. What I meant by parallels of the cursing is that one side has the privilege of being aloof and "reasonable" while the other is fighting for their life. I don't agree with what Israel is doing and your point about political agenda is well made. That's all this is and past erecting the Iron Dome and removing launching capability nothing they do is strictly retaliatory.
Again, I'm sorry you've suffered and I wish no one had to. My own experiences mean that I will never not stand by Israel's right to defend themselves but being the stronger/better supplied and equipped side needs to come with responsibility and accountability.
3e/g/j here. 3f/h/i/k, if this was a face to face conversation, this is the point at which I'd give you a hug And I'm sorry I threw insults your way. Really, I am. The moment I typed that paragraph out and pressed post, I wished I hadn't.
Honestly, I never care about things like current events but I just pretend I do sometimes so people like you won't make me feel stupid for not knowing what's going on in the world. My interests lie elsewhere and I really don't get it but I feel people look down on me for not knowing or caring what's going on. I'm so uninterested in news stories and I feel that keeping up with them is such a waste of my time but I do it anyway because I'm more concerned about not looking dumb which I know is not great.
It's a valid question. I could live my whole life not knowing about the Middle East, and it wouldn't look too different from the lives of most people here who DO know.
Its because people are citizens of the world, rather than just one country. We are a collective species , and try to sympathize with people. You don't have to care about whats going know, just know that there is something going on. And more likely than not those people are just trying to make other people aware.
Or just trying to show on social media that they are socially conscious....and compensating for the fact they they just put up pictures of spending money and clubbing.
Innocent lives are being lost. Children, women, and families - blown to pieces for nothing but being their ethnicity and where they live. So it's an issue as humans, we try to care for humanity - our humankind. You don't have to agree wit it but you can at least understand that much.
“By 'genocide' we mean the destruction of a nation or of an ethnic group." - Raphael Lemkin
It is in fact an act of genocide to target hospitals, schools, women and children in an attempt to take their land along with the resources it provides. These people have nowhere to go... did you know that Palestinian civilians cannot enter Israel or become an Israeli citizen? What else are they supposed to do?
Although I don't encourage any conflict, on some level I can understand why some of these people are driven to retaliate against Israel; would you not do the same if you were in their position? Imagine if you had next to no freedoms, if you and your family regularly went through periods of starvation, were liable to get arrested and potentially killed at any time, or if you watched your little brother or sister's broken corpse being pulled out of the rubble after a city wide bombing?
I understand how it does not directly affect us. But I fail to see how someone can be morally okay with all of this.
I'm not morally okay with murder, yet it happens every day, even in Canada, yet I do nothing about it. Indeed I can do nothing about it, short of vigilantism. There are a few more recourses when entire countries are involved, as in this case. So I've sent an email to my MP. But mostly I just sit around and read about it, or when I'm tired I avoid reading about it. But don't mistake that for moral acceptance.
Lol the jidf even has fuckers posting on this site. I'm not surprised though, when Finkelstein comes here all the pigs crawl out of the woodworks to scream and shout. Jeez there are a lot of you fuckers at this University. Gotta love diversity.
I can say it's personal interest. Really.
ReplyDeleteFor people who don't have relatives in the region it is probably:
ReplyDelete70% procrastination
20% fear that it will translate into war/deaths here
10% caring about what is happening to the people

Deleteyeah 3b and I bet you've never lived in Palestine where everything you own is routinely destroyed by Israeal and your family killed for nothing
Delete^Have you? I'm just saying, maybe try and put yourself in the shoes of someone living in Israel. Also, read up on causality.

ReplyDeletepeople generally don't, as it's already history
