about 64 years ago israel invaded palestine and decided they wanted it as their country. they were able to occupy about 95% of it and left gaza & the west bank. every while they bomb them (mostly gaza since it has borders with egypt and sometimes sneak in guns) to try and tell them they're in charge. This year they started bombing houses and using missiles and killing children and parents. so far, israel killed 700 people and injured 900. and palestine captured like three israeli's as leverage.
Palestine was controlled by the United Kingdom before Israel was formed. In 1948 the united nations helped establish the state of Israel on this controlled land (with the consent of Great Britain). Arabs immediately attacked Israel and tried to destroy the state. Israel has been involved in conflicts with its neighbouring states ever since. Recently, Israel has been involved with the terrorist organization, Hamas. (all western countries officially consider Hamas to be a terrorist organization, while Muslims do not) Hamas constantly attacks Israel in pathetic guerrilla tactics which include suicide bombers, and failed attempts to use rockets. Hamas recently kidnapped and killed 3 Israeli children which prompted a military movement by Israel to seek arrests from those responsible. 100 rockets were fired from Gaza into Israel, however their inferior technology doesn't really stand a chance. Israel has responded in a similar fashion, they just have technology that isn't complete shit like Palestine's'
3a here.... I'm an atheist with purely English heritage and I have no roots in Judaism. I'm also not a Zionist lol. I would just rather support the idea of having an ally in the middle east who aren't hellbent on converting the world to their religion. Israel shares many Canadian and Western values. I'd much rather support that then locking up our women like chattel.
3.e, so ignorant. How dare you support the killing of children and families by the Israelis because you support "the idea" of an ally that is "Western".
Let me tell you what, Canadians don't support the needless killing of hundreds of children you piece of shit. And you know NOTHING about Palestine or it's people. You are the scum of the earth, I'm sorry that we Canadians share a nationality with people like you.
There has always been a majority of Muslims in the "Holy Land" and minority of Jews. The problem really started when the British, who colonized Palestine, decided to make a religious partition plan (a la India Pakistan) in 1948. The Jews would get more of the northern region of the land (displacing many Arabs), while the Arabs would get the southern region, and Jerusalem would be international land. The Jews agreed to this plan and the Arabs did not, and the Jews created Israel. Now since the Arabs did not want to recognize Israel, they invaded Israel. They fought multiple wars and now Israel has control over Jerusalem and much of the Palestinian land.
The problem is, the Israelis pushed the Arabs to the Gaza Strip and West Bank (internationally considered independent territories), but until recently in Gaza, have occupied the land with military force. Gaza has a democratically elected government called Hamas ("Islamic Resistance Movement") who wants to return Palestinian land to the Arabs through force (considered terrorists by the US, Canada, EU).
The solution to the conflict is very complicated, and in my opinion, impossible to currently resolve. Generally accepted solutions are the one state solution and the two state solution. The one state solution combines all the land and people and will have a democratically elected government. The problem is that since there are more Arabs than Israelis, the current but opposite situation could occur (Israelis kicked out of the land). The two solution plan calls for the removal of Israeli occupation from Palestine and creation of a truly independent Palestinian state. The problem here could be the increased tensions from surrounding Islamic countries causing possible war.
The current violence most likely started with the kidnapping and murder of Israeli teens in the West Bank (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_kidnapping_and_murder_of_Israeli_teenagers) which must have increased the tension between the two. Now Israel is pushing its military into Gaza and bombing expected Hamas strongholds (allegedly) while Hamas is retaliating back.
Three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped and murdered (presumably by extremists who rejecte the Hamas-Fatah unity deal). Then a Palestinian boy was kidnapped and killed in Israel in an act of retaliation. Then (both sides are saying the other started it), rocket attacks and air strikes started going back and forth between the two sides.
Now it seems that Hamas is willing to drag the fight on as long as more civilians are being killed (damaging Israel's diplomatic reputation abroad), and a few IDF troops are killed (damaging domestic enthusiasm for the war in Israel)
Israel is created by displacing indigenous Palestinians in 1964 by the British. A war ensues between neighboring countries and Palestinians vs Israel. A treaty is signed outlining the territories of each party. Israel begins encroaching on land that is not theirs and forcibly take over most of the Palestinian land that was internationally regarded as illegal. At the same time Israel is an apartheid state where no non jew can vote. It also has institutionalized racism against arabs. Hamas is a democratically elected government in Gaza whose policy is to enforce the treaty that was signed regarding territory. Israel has also prevented any Arab from leaving Gaza and has placed embargos on Gaza effectively making it into a Ghetto where food, water and medicine is highly expensive and no building materials can be bought. The power disparity between the Israelis and Gazans is so great that anytime Hamas tries to fight back Israel bombs the Gazans into rubble. So far almost 1000 Gazans killed majority of them being civilians who are not allowed to escape to safety and only 1 jew I think has been killed by Hamas.
After Hitler massacred the Jews during world war 2, the Christians of Western Europe felt sorry and somewhat guilty so they thought helping Jews to create their own state to compensate. Except the new state is carved out of largely Muslim land, so of course Muslims are angered. What they should have done, is to carve out a piece of Germany instead, since it was the Germans who slaughtered the Jews and it's them who should pay for it, not Muslims.
jews and arabs are at it. again.

3a, you must be a Jew.
DeleteNo a real Jew wouldn't support Israel. 3a is actually a filthy brainwashed Zionist scum.

DeleteJews =/= Israelis
