Yes, this happens. From my point of view I think I might be interested in someone, I see how compatible we are and then decide where it's going. I don't just stop talking to them out of the blue if it doesn't work out. It tends more to fizzle out after a while.
This kind of happened to me pretty recently. The guy showed all the signs of being interested but then abruptly stopped replying and turned me down the next time I talked to him. It would have been nice if he'd been honest and open about it sooner.
But honestly, both guys and girls do this. I've done the same kind of thing to guys in the past (feigning interest to be polite and then just stopping communication) back when I was a big coward and afraid of rejecting someone head on. It happens. Don't take it too personally and move on :)
Every time this happens to me, it turns out they just happen to have a girlfriend they've forgotten to tell me about. ha, I swear literally every guy i've talked to in the past year has been "single". Is that the new term for I have a girlfriend??
guilty of this...there are just some girls it just hurts to say you have a girlfriend to. even though i'd never cheat on my girlfriend, when there's a super hot girl who seems into me i just can't muster up those 3 deadly words.
I've just kind if done this... I was talking to a couple guys, hoping for one to ask me out. It had been a couple months, so I kind of stopped waiting, and then someone else asked me out.
I'm also not used to guys liking me so I tend to assume most want to be friends.
I can't say anything from a guy's perspective, but as a woman, yeah, I do this. If I get to know someone more and I don't like what I find out, I change my mind. That's shitty that you feel led on, but people are entitled to change their minds as they please. There's no obligation to continue your feelings for someone if you're not in a relationship with them. Sorry your feelings were hurt in the process.
I feel like this is written by every girl that I ever talked to.

ReplyDeleteI see. If that's the case, this was a less painful way to find out. Thanks :)

Yep, that immediate anxiety and panic when someone actually says yes.
DeleteYES.
ReplyDeletehe was just fucking someone else for a little while, no worries. step up
ReplyDeleteNope; rather, I'm very good at liking someone and being passive about it for months on end without making a move. =\

ReplyDeleteYes obviously, this is why all relationships do not end in marriage.
ReplyDeleteYou start a relationship when you like someone mutually and you end it when you stop it when either party stops being attracted to the other.
Maybe this guy is into animal porn...
