QUESTION: Hey everyone, any political science professors you would recommend? Any you would steer clear from? I'm going into political science next year and was just looking for some advice on classes :)

  1. If you're okay with a serious accent you 100% have to take a course with jingjing. The best poli sci prof I have ever had in my 3 years of polisci.

    1. His class was suuuuuper easy since his lectures mirrored what was in the textbook. Really easy to get away with either just reading the book or just going to class.

  2. I actually really liked Boychuk, but he's on sabbatical.

  4. Veronica Kitchen, Anna Esselment and Lucie Edwards (look up her Wikipedia page) are all great professors. Jingjing is good as well, if you don't mind going over the same material at least twice. He's not a tough marker either.

  5. Emmett Macfarlane knows his stuff and his courses will learn you things, but he's a poor lecturer. Kind of boring.

  6. Anna drake is awesome! andrew cooper is an easy grade but impossible to follow in class. do the readings and skip class and youll be fine.

AVOID WILLIAM NEEDHAM. very sweet man, very endearing. but cannot lecture at ALLL.

  7. If you are interested in Politics and the Middle East, take a class with Bessma Momani. She is an amazing prof. It's incredible how much knowledge she has!

    1. Yeah, I really enjoyed that course. Cover a lot fairly well/quickly, Prof. Momani clearly knows her stuff and it's not terribly difficult to do well.

  8. Needham is super sweet, if you take a class with him I say be prepared to learn the material on your own, there's not a point in going to lecture unless he's showing a documentary or something

  9. Anna Esselment is by far my favourite. She is well organized, speaks well, and has a good sense of humor.

I also like Emmett MacFarlane. People say he is a bad lecturer, and yes, maybe he isn't the most energetic and charismatic prof, but he leads good discussion and is very clear. Not the easiest marker though.

Needham is a bad lecturer but easy marker...and a total sucker for grade appeals.
