QUESTION: Has anyone done a coop in New York before? If so how much did they pay? I'm looking at living costs there and going "holy shit".

  1. Cali you can pull like 5-7k/month, I'm guessing NYC is comparable. Some companies will pay for your housing and flight/visa too. It's really case by case.

  3. I made $6k/month plus $1500 moving stipend in NYC. Came out way ahead in the end even after paying tuition for the next term. I would recommend going for it.

  4. Exactly! It's such a good experience. The fact that it also works out financially is a bonus.

  5. I'm working in NYC right now. Getting $6000 a month, only benefits I get are gym/subway pass. Rent is $1300 a month for me because I got _really_ lucky and found a place that had people leaving in the middle of their lease, with electricity/internet/cable it's about $1400 a month for me.

I've definitely heard of interns getting paid more with housing provided, e.g. my friend working at Palantir. In my opinion it's just such an amazing city you should get an internship here at least once to try it out.
