QUESTION:I'm thinking about going to Waterloo and am happy about the academics but my main concerns are
1) are there parties or frats often or do people just sit around and study
2) are there really only mostly Asians here and are there a lot of hot chicks
3) what is the prevalence of drug use and attitude towards it at the school

  1. How many fucking people need to ask this question? It's a major Canadian university with over 30,000 students- so yes there are parties, yes there are hot chicks, yes there are drugs and no one cares.

    1. OP didn't imply they weren't. If he used "or" instead of "and", then your reply would be warranted.

  4. I can probably tell that this isn't the place for you judging by your questions, but I'll answer:

    1. Parties, yes, tons. You just need to find the right group. Main difference I've noticed from other schools parties is that we have a slightly higher guy to girl ratio, and we tend to play hip-hop & r&b rather than dubstep (looking at you Western)
    2. Yes. There are a ton of asians here but you'll soon realize that asian does not imply anti-social, non-drinkers. You'll be exposed to a lot more cultures at Waterloo. I get drunk with all races here. Its a good fuckin time.
    3. Weed is everywhere (its a university campus), other than that there's study drugs and the occasional M.

If you're looking for school spirit, this isn't the place to go. Most people here care more about what the school will do for them career wise. You shouldn't be deciding on those 3 questions. Things like co-op should be your deciding factors.

  5. As soon as there are just slightly more than none of a minority, everyone suddenly thinks that's all there is. There's a fuck ton of white people here as there is anywhere else in Canada.

  6. Looks like you'll be wasting 4 years worth of tuition with those kinds of questions. Go work and gain some maturity. Every school has parties, and UW has WLU down the street. Every school has all ethnicities, every school has drugs, and every school has frats. You'll need to learn how to properly balance these things and your studies... which is why you're thinking of attending university in the first place (at least I hope).

Don't come here, OP. Seriously, don't. You sound like an idiot if these are your first three priorities.

    2. Everyone is of asian descent.

    1. I know about drugs, I studied it in grade 12 bio when i took the Asian six pack.

Its the stuff that helps you study harder.

  10. I like how you assumed that if there was a venn diagram of asians and hot girls, there would be no union set.

the union set is small but its there (fyi)

Other than that, waterloo is what you make of it, but so is any university.

  11. 1) are there parties or frats often or do people just sit around and study

If you want parties and frats, go to the states for an education.

    2) are there really only mostly Asians here and are there a lot of hot chicks

If you want few asians and lots of hot chicks, don't get a post-secondary education

    3) what is the prevalence of drug use and attitude towards it at the school

You do know UW is in Canada, right? Do you even know how easy it is to get drugs in this country?

  12. 1. there are parties, but they are less common than at other universities. the biggest difference i noticed is how people party in residence in first year. don't expect to have the same experience here as you would at somewhere like Western, Guelph or Laurier.

    2. There are a lot of asian, but there are also a lot of indians and non-caucasians in general. thats not necessarily a bad thing, but, go in with the understanding that there are cultural differences at play here that you might not be exposed to at another school. There are hot chicks, statistically speaking, there have to be haha. but if you're looking for the quintessential blonde, perky, stupid and preppy 'hot' chick you will likely not find many of them here.

    3. People here do drugs, same as at any school. weed is very common, so are drugs like adderal. its also not too hard to find ecstasy, MDMA, or coke if you know the right people to ask.
