I'm a black girl and I feel the same way about Waterloo guys. I just wish that people would take a second to hear me out and pick my brain a little instead of immediately being turned off because of my skin colour. I completely understand if you get to know me and aren't feeling the vibes, but just give a girl a chance.
^ Ugly by whose standards? The fact of the matter is that darker skin is not perceived to be an attractive attribute in many parts of the world (including the Western part). You may or may not believe this to be true, but I can tell you that this is the case as someone with darker skin. This goes far beyond just being attractive to someone.
She's not attacking anyone. Just wishing people would take the time to get to know her better. Her perception may be inaccurate in that this is entirely due to her skin colour, but to discard it completely as an explanation is probably not fair.
4 here...Totally not using my skin colour as a scapegoat. I know that there is a difference in the way Waterloo guys act around black people compared to guys in the GTA because I've lived in both areas. Maybe I am ugly to some guys, which is fine, but I'm sure that that isn't the reason as to why others won't give me a chance. There is no "evil white man holding me back", and I never, ever use my skin colour as an excuse because overall, I have a heart and so do you, but the feeling one gets from being rejected due to skin colour is not a nice one. It is a straight up fact that skin colour is perceived differently by different people, so this post is not an excuse from someone with a shitty attitude. Ignorance is bliss, eh?
I don't agree. There are plenty of girls not into white guys (especially from the GTA). Sure they might think they're attractive, but a lot wouldn't try to start up anything serious.
Also how is Waterloo bad for this? Of all the Canadian Universities, Waterloo is probably one of the most level playing fields. Go to Western or Queens and see for yourself.
I know this is commonly true, so this doesn't help much, but +1 here as a woman who doesn't care what race you are as long as we're compatible. A black friend of mine was complaining about how hard dating is here for him and it made me really sad, I like to think of people being less racist here in Canada, especially having spent so much co-op time in the US, but that doesn't mean there's no racism unfortunately :|
My childhood best friend (who's black) also commented on the phenomenon of people in bars asking him "where are you from" all the time, despite him being a 3rd generation Canadian.
I ask everyone if they are from the area when I make small talk. Many people around Waterloo don't live in the area so it gives us a lot to talk about. Not alienating, just curious about their home/availability. I'm white and people ask me the same all the time.
Not racist, just not typically physically attracted to black, Asian or Middle Eastern fellows. I mean, if you're super gorgeous, you're super gorgeous and personality can go a long way. It's just that I find that, if you're not reaching Tyson Beckford, Hao Yunxiang, etc. levels of attractiveness, I just don't feel that spark.
Actually, lots of girls, including myself, like black guys that aren't ghetto. I think statistically black and white guys have the most girls attracted to them, while Indian guys have the least. Maybe you're thinking about black girls? They definitely have the worst luck out of the girls and maybe you're extending that idea to black guys too. Or maybe it's just all in your head.
Semi-related: Give black girls a chance! I mean seriously, if she goes to Waterloo (or any university for that matter) I'm pretty sure there is a good chance she is different from other stereotypical black females? And to OP, black guys do not have it as bad as black girls, you just haven't met the right girl!
@OP there's plenty of girls that like black guys, myself included. I am not gonna get into it because I've been attacked on here numerous times - but trust me. LOTS of white girls like y'all. If you wanna chill sometime (are taller than 5'9 and are attractive), hmu:)
Well, I love black guys.
ReplyDeleteWaterloo black dudes have to be the most stylish demographic here, I would say. They'd look good even if they weren't that fashionable either.
ReplyDelete-Brown girl with black boyfriend, just sayin'

ReplyDelete(Asian female here)
Meh, Waterloo in general is "nothing-except-white". White dudes have their pick of the litter here.

7a - It may not be racist but it's still alienating.
