QUESTION: Please tell me, how much would they take off from key deposit (200 for
me and my roomie, 400 in total), for a small damage on the plaster wall?
a range would be hepful!
A key deposit is not allow to act as a damage deposit. Damage deposit's are illegal in canada, and you should get your key deposit back right after you return your key.
You could probably fix the damage yourself and avoid this all together. Google that shit and colour match the paint colour at Home Depot. If you don't want to do that then, i'm not sure they can take money from your key deposit, since it's not a damage deposit, but be assured that if they can/do it'll be a lot ($50 each). Your best bet is to fix it and not even tell them about the damage because they are bound to take advantage. Good Luck.

ReplyDeleteThis. They will invoice you for damage separately if they care. Key deposit must be returned if key is returned.

ReplyDeleteFixing it yourself is usually a violation of the lease agreement. Don't fuck yourself OP. Suck up and pay the damage invoice.
DeleteBut +1 to key deposit cannot be used as a damage deposit. Also $200 is a ridiculous key deposit.
Yeah, I wouldn't even tell them if it's something small.
ReplyDeletefix it yourself...
