QUESTION: How do some people who claim to stay up for ungodly hours every night manage to have flawless skin?? Does anyone have any tips and tricks for smoother skin? (Besides making it look smooth with make-up...)
I average about 5 ish hours every night. After a few nights of little sleep I can notice an increase in pore sizes, at which point I use a seaweed/clay mask to unclog. I eat lots of fruits and veggies, drink plenty of water, and practice good hygiene. Also, a good moisturizer goes a long way.
I have really clear skin usually despite the fact that I sleep erratic hours. I'm ethnically Indian, but I also cleanse, tone and moisturize every morning. Lots of water. That's about it.
Find something natural that's good for your face. I like tea tree oil and rosehip oil because they absorb very well. Also, wash your face morning and night, just with water rather than stuff with sulfates that just strip your skin of its natural oil or stuff with irritants like parabens, benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acid. Additionally, take it easy on the heavy face makeup that will just gunk up your pores with silicones, talc, and other chemical crap that can interfere with your hormones. Lighter mineral makeup is your best bet. My skin has been loads better since ditching all the chemical stuff, as has my hair/scalp. "There's Lead in Your Lipstick" by Gillian Deacon is a good starting point for ingredients to eliminate from products you use. Sephora's website lists ingredients for a lot of their products and has filters for natural and paraben-free products. Well.ca also has a fair selection of natural makeup and body products, and Live Clean makes great hair products that a lot of stores now carry (best prices at Walmart/Target).

ReplyDeleteDon't take hot showers. Lukewarm is much better and makes your skin smoother. I have bad skin so my dermatologist is very persistent about this.
