Fair enough, obviously it's aimed at people who are interested in philosophy already, but it's probably the most interesting stuff within that category. Honestly the material is strong enough to convert smart kids who think philosophy&psychoanalysis is a waste of time, into members. But I need a base who are already interested anyway.
The most interesting stuff within philosophy? Well, I must disagree with you there. But as I said, I'm in.
I propose that membership be restricted to those who can recite from memory the title of "The mirror stage as formative of the function of the I as revealed in psychoanalytic experience"
Personally I haven't read too much directly of Lacan but I've read others who write about him quite a lot, so this should be good learning experience for everyone involved. Btw do you know other people who would be interested?
Philosophers like Slavoj Zizek are huge right now, but of course it's marginal, I wouldn't have to make a dumb feds group if it was popular. Don't be like every douchey hipster psych prof, at least give it a shot.
Of course it's been proven false, Freud was using extreme anecdotal examples to create generalized hypotheses. The point isn't to simply apply Freud's findings to todays conditions lol. Some people have noticed correctly, that there is something authentic in his methodology and the philosophical principles as elaborated by Lacan. So it's basically a philosophy class.
You have no idea how much critical theory frustrates me. I kind of got thrown into it in my upper years as my social science courses got unexpectedly more and more abstract. I'd say it's stupid, but I'm pretty sure I'm the stupid one. Now can someone please explain Judith Butler to me?
Perfect, we would definitely do a critical analysis of Judith Butler from the Lacanian perspective, and of course that would include understanding Judith Butler and other theorists. That also would include problems with feminist theory, and a look into Lacan's logic of sexuation. I find the best way to help people understand is lots of analogies/examples, it really is quite simple once you find the example that works for you.
Sounds incredibly boring. I'm in!

DeleteI'd have to overcome my envy of this huge cock http://barbarashdwallpapers.com/animal-background-with-rooster/
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Lacan will teach you to be more funny.
DeleteI thought it was clever
DeleteI would have preferred a picture of a beheaded rooster with a reference to castration anxiety, if you're going to do a pun you gotta go all out :P
DeleteSounds out of date and irrelevant...
ReplyDeleteAlso this must come from your anal attention seeking ass.
