QUESTION: I want to talk to someone about my anxiety issues but I'm not sure where to go. Do I just book an appointment with uWaterloo health services?

  1. need to get a referral from a doctor at health services. then you go upstairs to mental health and book an appointment...

When you book an appointment with health services, just say it is for mental health. Then, getting a referral is as simple as telling the doc "hey, I think i have anxiety issues"

  2. If you're not comfortable with booking an appointment or you want to talk to someone right away, try calling Good 2 Talk: http://www.good2talk.ca/ (1-886-925-5454)

  3. You could also book an appointment with counseling services over the phone or in needles hall. Or just a regular doctor in health services, a lot have training for this kind of thing. If it's mild anxiety I don't see a point in going overboard like 1 says (and getting a referral to a psychiatrist o.o)

  4. Avoid health services at this point. Book an appointment with counselling services here on campus. I think they are allowed to make referrals to health services if such a course of action is necessary.

  5. Just go right to counselling services in Needles Hall and say you want to make an appointment for the first time. They'll guide you through the rest. Fair warning - you'll have to talk to an "intake counselor" who assesses your needs and decides what counselor to set you up with, first, and all appointments are booked really far in advance.
