QUESTION: I'm worried about a course I'm taking but absolutely don't need... it was supposed to be a bird course but it's likely going to be the lowest grade on my transcript up to date (~ 60%)... If I drop it right now, does anyone know if I will still be considered to have taken a full -- "5 course load" by professional schools? Is there any drawback to having a "WD" on your transcript?

  1. I am suspecting that professional schools may look less favourably upon a lighter course load and/or WDs. Grad schools: not so much.

  2. hahaha HRM amirite?

Professional schools will see it as 4 courses. Anyways depends on the program you plan on applying to. I know for law school certain schools view it differently, but one semester with 4 courses and a WD won't really impact your application.

  3. I'd understand if you were worried about failing the course, but getting a C seems like much less big a deal than dropping... you could always talk to the prof about trying to improve your performance as opposed to giving up.

Sticking with things shows character. Much more than high grades do.
