QUESTION: Did you actually go to Waterloo's Open House (not the one that just
occurred on Saturday, but when you were applying) to know if you'd
attend UW or not?
I went to the Fall Open House and it totally sold me on Waterloo. I was not expecting to like this university, but I totally fell in love with the program and liked Waterloo way more than I expected to.
I went during very briefly in april and the summer (month and a half before I moved in) before; already accepted at this point. I'm low on a long list of kids who went to university in my family and none of them saw campuses prior, so my parents didn't think there was a point in taking me to see it.
I didn't go to any open houses but I went to see the campus sometime in the summer. (we were passing through Waterloo) I had been set on coming to Waterloo even before I knew which schools would accept me (for co-op), seeing any open houses wouldn't have changed anything.
I'm out of province so I couldn't do the open houses but I was initially sold on Queens. After doing a tour there somebody suggested I do a tour of Waterloo and I changed my mind.
Saw it in march, the ugly campus kind of turned me off, but I was already set on going there so I accepted the offer anyway. No regrets though, the campus slowly grew on me, like a cat.

ReplyDeleteAt the time I was already pretty set on Waterloo. But it was great going just to hear perspectives of actual students.

ReplyDeleteI just went here bc all my asian friends were going here, never visited. 4 years later and no regrets.
ReplyDeleteI went in March. It did not deter me, and that was enough.

ReplyDeleteI went to open houses for other schools but not Waterloo since I had already seen the campus previously when visiting friends here.
ReplyDeleteI didn't bother with any open houses at all, but that's because I'm from Alberta (and didn't apply to any in-province schools...)
