I could suggest buses - the transit system is improving but until new bus systems and the LRT (remaining hopeful) is implemented, many areas are left with sporadic service or unserviced.
I hear the busses are quite crowded at certain times. Sometimes 3 busses come in a row, but people only ever get on the first one and the other two are mostly empty. What would people think about offering something like a standing room only bus at peak times?
I often hear of mismatched times as well, 1a - I suppose the issue with standing room only buses (if I am reading this correctly) is accessibility issues as well as safety issues for those transporting themselves - there has to be a balance of seating and standing. I suppose the issue really is ensuring accurate communication between buses and translating that to signage at bus stops (those LED signs you see). As well as filling the demand for the city (not just university students, but that's important too). For example, the iExpress 200 could easily divide off into two routes during peak times, one for the universities and one for Conestoga Mall (I have seen this done before while taking the 200). I think an important consideration as well is making your voice heard and taking to the GRT if you have a problem. One of the buses I take was frequently late (not even acceptably late, sometimes 10-20 minutes after the departure date at the Charles St. Terminal) for a year or so until riders complained so frequently that the bus has begun to leave consistently at the right times. Another example of this is the new University route - without bus drivers and students advocating for this route, I am certain it wouldn't have been developed as quickly.
Best shawarma from my experience was at Highland Halal Schawarma. They have amazing falafal too. Also, Rana in downtown Kitchener is really good. I would recommend getting half chicken half beef. Mmm just thinking about it makes me hungry.
Cool hangout spots, particularly those that allow you to hear the person across the table.
Mid-level housing. Tons of stuff in the <$850 range, tons of stuff in the >$1350 range, and NOTHING in between. Ugh. Particularly one and two bedrooms.
East-west transit. It is easy to go north-south but god forbid I want to get to Fischer-Hallman from King and I'm in Uptown.. glhf
- LGBTQ bars, events, hangouts - Good restaurants - Mid-market rental housing ($900-1200 a month 1brdm) - Music scene - Affordable yoga studios - Grocery stores downtown - Cultural scene
............ okay you just made me hate living here.
The music scene is a disappointment. Beta could of been a place that could of taken a risk and had various nights of non top-40 house music, but clearly they are soft as fuck
Men (apparently). Since I have moved here I have been set up countless times with people's sisters, cousins, daughters, nieces, etc. Even when I go to random places I have ladies asking about my relationship status. Men need to step it up here.
What exactly do you mean?

DeleteI would say girls. Objectively, I've seen many more physically attractive guys here than girls.

DeleteYou can do the online farmer's market thing in Uptown by ordering from Bailey's Local Foods. They're basically the shit.
