its impossible. there's a specific quota for this uni plaza. basically, burger king buys the right to be the only fast food chain restaurant of its kind when it rents a space there.
same with all the other places.. you cant have more than x asian restaurants. which is why theres one there (mikey's i believe) that says "canadian and chinese" or something.. bullshit they've got canadian food haha, they've just classified themselves like that to get over the quote :)
you live and you learn! (i found this super super fascinating when i found out)
Bubble Tease & Sweet Dreams can probably go into some kind of beverage/cafe/snack category.
And I don't know how exactly the stores are categorised for these quotas, but maybe it doesn't count Korean vs Chinese vs Mongolian under the same umbrella?
I'd be interested in seeing these quotas, sounds pretty fascinating #1
I wouldn't mind. Only because I have a bunch of free burger mcdonalds coupons that a friend gave me. (he used to work at McDonalds as a manager) I'm too lazy to bus to the McD on Columbia just to get a free burger. Too far.
If they could, I think it would get bad. We don't need more unhealthy choices. As much as I love a mcd burger every once in a while, I think campus would start gaining weight.
its impossible.

*quota.... sorry
DeleteAsian restaurants..
Delete1) Chens
2) Paninos
3) Korean Place near Paninos
4) Mikeys
5) Mongolian Grill
6) Bubble Tease
7) Sweet Dreams
That's not even all of them. Heh.
yeah but i think what 1 was getting at is that you can't have 50 asian restaurants in the plaza. there's a limit.

100% fuck no

ReplyDeleteI'd be down for a closer McD's for their breakfast stuff (+ free coffees during that promotion), probably wouldn't patronize them apart from that.
DeleteI'm down for less Asian food places. Nothing against them but there's far too many
ReplyDelete+100
DeleteYes, that would be awesome. McDonald's is cheaper than BK.
ReplyDeleteEveryone would become so fat if MCD was here. Plus it'll put everything else out of business.
ReplyDelete1) Rent is too high for mcdonalds to make its expected massive profits.
ReplyDelete2) BK already exists there, so does Subway.
3) I hope they serve alcohol.
What I wouldn't give for a McDonald's closer or on campus, I used to work there ad my addiction demands filling more often
ReplyDeleteburger king is disgusting, so it is hard not to improve on that

ReplyDeleteMaybe the campus could try gaining responsibility for their own actions?
DeleteI'd be up for it...
