QUESTION: Is it just me or do people not ask each other out on dates anymore? All the people I know who go on dates are already in relationships.

  1. My boyfriend did. First time we went out, he literally asked, "Do you want to go out on a date with me right now?" And he still asks me out on dates.

  2. It's not really very common anymore. Usually you just start hanging out together.

I guess the equivalent nowadays would be asking someone to go to a party with you. They know you're into them because you asked them specifically, and it's just you two.

  3. I used to go on lots of dates. I'm in a relationship now but before I would definitely go on random dates and not "hang out sessions". I think it still happens.

  4. I'm single but I went on dates with 3 different guys last term.

  5. As a girl, I have to say that I love it when a guy (or girl - I'm bi) asks me out explicitly on a date. Instantly they become more attractive to me than they would be if they were just asking me to "hang out," because it shows confidence and maturity.

  7. I went on a few "dates" with my ex before we were officially dating. Had date-like occasions with the current bf before we dated, but they weren't ever officially labeled "dates," so I suppose they could have been "hanging out."
