QUESTION: Is it bad to have a WD on your transcript, like for getting a job or transferring to another program?

  1. No. I had multiple, transferred programs many times, am going to grad school.

  2. No one actually looks at your transcripts except possibly grad schools and according to 1, that doesn't even seem to matter much.

  3. Sort of depends on what you're going into, and what the WD is in. It's not great to have a tonne of them, but the odd one here or there, especially outside your main area of focus isn't the end of the world. If you want to go to grad school in organic chem, and you have a tonne of WD's from organic chem courses... It doesn't look too good. A WD in philosophy however? Totally different ball game.

  4. I had WDs and failed courses on my transcript. I'm doing post grad studies at another school at the moment. I think my interview to get in provided me with some leverage though.

  5. I have a WD on my transcript from my 1A term and no one has ever asked about; co-op, employers, scholarship applications, etc.
