QUESTION: I still don't know what career path to take after I finish school. Currently in Math 3A.
How long did it take you to figure out what you want to do? I'm starting to get worried and stressed cause a lot of people I spoke to are so passionate about their hopes and I ain't got a fucking clue.

  1. “You will never find happiness until you stop looking for it.”

    ― Willie Nelson,

  2. 3B was about the time when I figured out what I wanted to do after finishing school. Don't worry too much, everyone figures things out at a different pace.

  3. Don't worry yourself too much, OP. This issue has risen it's' ugly head at me plenty of times and I remember all of the silly worries that I would ponder on for weeks at a time.

While people like to say that they know what they are doing for their life, they don't know what life will throw at them. When some folks graduate, most will go into a career far unrelated to what they studies in post-secondary. My brother had gone to school to study Business, and in the past while he has recently worked as a supply gym teacher, coach, etc.

Life is supposed to be adventurous. Unless you're a good fortune teller, no one really knows where we'll end up until that bitter end. What we do know is that we have some time on our side. We have time to experience, to live, to love and to try many new things. Do it now before it gets eaten up.

Take your time and graduate, OP. As long as you have something I'm your education, anything can happen. And please do not worry. You will be okay.

  4. * studies and IN your education. I hate typing on a phone.

  5. Many people don't know what they want to do after graduating and many end up doing something entirely unrelated to their field of study.
I am a mature student who has had a career. You would be amazed how you will find something you are good at, and it will spur a career path. Make your goal to be find work you enjoy, and you will be fine.

(I am back because I need a degree to go further in my career, not because I didn't like what I was doing)

  6. I'm in my second year of my masters and I still have no idea what I want to do. To be honest, I'm pretty smart (sorry for the arrogance) but I'm not really an overly ambitious person. I kind of just go with the flow and and figure out if I like what I'm doing while I'm doing it. It stresses me out sometimes that I have no real set out goals, but then I just figure if I'm happy at the moment then it's okay, as long as I'm not sitting around idly. You can't figure things out until you test out a bunch of stuff.

  7. dude same position same year (math as well) and everything. Man I was doing CA till now, but recently I have come to the realization I wanna do something else. It sucks because I will probably have to stay in school a little longer now. but its worth it. How can you expect have a decision made about your life at such a young age. Its ok to be lost as long as you are generally motivated.

  8. I'm not OP, but it's nice to know other people are in a similar situation to mine.
