Webcamming with your mom works fine on both.
Custom PC for reddit at my desk, iPad for reddit in bed, Surface Pro for reddit in class, laptop for reddit at parents, phone for reddit on the porcelain throne.

OK with either. Had a laptop exclusively for a few years and just recently switched back to a desktop due to permanent living arrangements.
