QUESTION: Last time when I was applying for coop jobs, I got one offer (not too interested, but ok) and some ranks (one of which I really really like). I rated the ranked job 1 and offer something like 5... and ended up not getting either. So if this happens, again, what should I do? Is there an option to say something like
if (matched to the ranked job)
{ take it;}
else{ take the offer;}
??
Lol Jobmine is not Excel...
ReplyDeleteYou just have to take your chances. There's nothing you can do.
thats c style pseudo dumbass not excel
DeleteDon't listen to @1. It's competitive game theory, conditional on your inputs and everyone else's. How risk averse or risk tolerant are you this time? If you're highly risk averse and just want to be placed, pick the job where they like you the most and that there doesn't look like there's as much competition. The risk I'm talking about is of not being placed, not of your not liking the job. It's a big dating game.
ReplyDeleteYou could probably email all the other people who were interviewed to find out if the person who got the offer is going to take it... and maybe get a sense of how many people were ranked. Then you'd know whether you have a chance or not. Just to get more info.
ReplyDeletePeople do this????
Delete@3a: While I don't outright email the other interviewees, I do ask my friends if they know any of them.
DeleteIf you are offered a job and you ranked them 2, who gets it? You or the person who got ranked 2nd and placed the job as 1?
