OMG UPDATE: Question? Answer.

QUESTION: Got locked into a coop job that I tried to get out of, far away from
home and feeling hopeless like I'm just wasting 8 months and not helping
further my career. I was already feeling depressed and now I just don't
know what to do or how to keep from going in a downward spiral. Any
advice on how to stay positive through all this? Is there any sort of
mental/emotional support I can get while on coop?
THat sucks, but you need mental/emotional support to get through it? Oh please...
ReplyDeletePeople react differently to different situations. Your comment is insensitive, immature and frankly ignorant. (ignorant in the sense that you do not know what the other person knows (their situation.))
Delete^ Agreed.
Deleteuh yeah... it's co-op. Treat it like a break, dick off (not literally) at work and do better next time.
ReplyDeleteBad advice. See my post at 4.
DeleteSend an email to someone at counselling services.
ReplyDeleteOP out of curiosity what city are you living in? Last term I worked far away from home and it was stressful and boring and upsetting all at the same time being far away from friends and family. Just know that you have 24/7 support for this kind of thing at (519) 745-1166 (see side banner). Have a conversation with your friend or family and talk this out it helps. Also sometimes your work if it is a larger company has anonymous counselling services. Do a quick search on your intranet at work for this.
ReplyDeleteLast but not least, 8 months may seem like a long daunting challenge but it will be over soon than you think. It's best to attempt to stay positive and try picking up a new skill or reading a new book? You can also download ebooks and read them on your laptop if you have no library where you are working. These are all things that helped me last term!
