QUESTION: Have you ever seen your dad cry? What did you do?

  1. When his mom died. I didn't do anything because I don't know how to act when people cry. I kind of just want them to stop or go away.

  2. The only times I've seen my dad cry is when we put our dog and cat down.
There's something about seeing a dad cry that's truly heartbreaking.

  3. Yep, it was when my Grandpa was finally put to rest at the cemetery during his funeral. I never see my Dad cry very often so those emotions just added on to mine, back then. Grandpa was a huge part of my life back then, so his passing hit me very, very hard.

  4. Yes, it was due to a family issue we were having and he thought our family was breaking apart. I have never felt so bad, or heartbroken in my life. Seeing your dad cry, who has always been a pillar in your life was scary, saddening, brought me to tears and I felt like a terrible person on that day.

I have seen my mom cry enough times in my life so its never a big deal but seeing my dad cry was

  6. Yea. Not often, but I wouldn't say it shocked me. My dad never tried to hide his feelings from us.

  7. Yup. It was after a fight with my mom I think. Don't remember much about it or how it affected me. They divorced a few years later.

  8. He got a nail through his hand a day before. He wasn't allowed any pain meds because he's allergic to something in them. He was in so much pain, I've never seen him like that before

  9. When I was talking to him about how I am not proud of the person I have become and about how much I aspire everyday to be a man like him and fail. He told me about how he struggled with the same thing when he was my age and it ended up bringing back memories of how much he loved his father, whom had left his family. He started tearing up, which also made me tear up ... it was one of the most profound experiences I've ever had with my dad.

  11. The day I told him that I self-harm. He kissed my cuts and cried with me. I'll never forget how awful it made me feel. That was three and a half years ago, and to this day he's still the reason I want to get better.

  13. I'm a complete daddy's girl so whenever he cries, I cry too. Once I was talking to my dad about my future and education and he told me that he just wanted to see me grow up and have a happy life and he was crying as he told me this because him and my mom both came from childhoods that were less than ideal. Every parent wants what is best for their children but it doesn't really hit you how hard they want this until they cry for it.

  14. The only two times I've seen my dad cried were:

    1) In grade 8, we spent three hours solving a math problem, well..he was trying very hard to explain the concept to me. It ended up with a huge argument. I cried and so did he...in the bathroom. I wrote this down on my diary.

    2) When he was informed of his sister's sudden death through the phone. She was quite healthy. One day, she just went to bed and never woke up. She was also very nice to me :(
