QUESTION: I keep getting little linty fuzz balls attaching themselves to all my lace bras and undies. Girls: do you have any tricks on how to get rid of them or how to prevent it from happening? I've tried picking them out but it just tears at the fabric.
you can wash your bras inside a garment bag that helps sometimes
ReplyDeleteIt's called pilling and it's just usual degradation of the fabric. You can't really stop it, though you can slow it down by hand washing your bras/underwear or use a garmet bag, and also hang dry instead of using the dryer.
ReplyDeleteI second this. It's a pain, but I hand wash all my really nice underwear and tops to keep them as long as possible.
DeleteOP here, the weird thing is the lint bald aren't the same color as the material on my undies/bras. It's like they're stealing fabric from the other clothes.
DeleteBut helpful! I will have to try a garmet bag. Where can I get one?
I think I got mine at bed, bath and beyond or some similar store. Anywhere you can get a laundry hamper you can usually get a garment bag.
DeleteRe: different colors, that's when the little bits of fabric come off your assorted garments and attach to other ones :P You can reduce this significantly by air drying!
don't wash it wish your socks or knit sweaters
ReplyDeletemaybe I'm misunderstanding but it sounds like you're putting your lace undies/bras in the drier? Just let them air dry
ReplyDeleteNope. They have never gone in the drier.
Delete- Wash them in laundry bags
ReplyDelete- Air dry them
- To remove lint balls, you can just use plain old masking tape. :)
Or use an old razor on the lint balls
DeleteI was going to suggest the razor as well.
DeleteIt's because it's a synthetic fiber. That doesn't happen as much with fabrics that aren't nylon or polyester. You may want to switch to cotton.
ReplyDeleteDo you have any recommendations on where to buy pretty, full lace underwear and bras that are cotton? I currently shop exclusively at aerie as I don't like La Senza.
DeleteCotton lace is not a thing for a reason. The rest of the bra/underwear is another matter. Actually 6, cotton is *much* worse for pilling than the usual artificial fabrics for bras. It's only the "soft" kinds of artificial fabrics that have that quality.
DeleteI buy the plainest bras la senza has (so free I think?) because there's no difference doing that or buying online.brastop.com in terms of price. I buy all my non-shaped/padded cup bras from brastop.com.
The bra I'm wearing now is from H&M, balconette style, cotton/lace detailing everywhere except the cups. It's never had any problems with pilling and according to the other one I have (still has tags on it/same style), the trim is a cotton nylon blend so its still a compromise but if you want lace it will have to do. Jacob lingerie might also have something. I don't like la senza either...too many logos
ReplyDeleteMeant to reply to 6a
DeleteYou can try getting something called a "Fabric shaver". I use it to remove lint balls from my clothes :)
