QUESTION: Has anyone taken the G road test here in Kitchener? Any tips? Also, any good prep course to recommend?

  1. I was tested by a friend...so I don't even know what is supposed to be on the test.

  2. I took it here last summer. I needed a car to do the test in so I did 5 hours of lessons and use of the car with Pro Driving school(they had the cheapest rates I could find). Despite not driving for about a year and never having driven on the highway before I passed the G test perfectly after the 5 hours of lessons. When you're doing your lessons they take you on the exact course that you will be driving during your test which helps a lot. When I did lessons for my G2 in Toronto and my test in Toronto, I never actually saw the testing location until 20 minutes before my test.

Also I booked mine just before the testers get their lunch breaks. The person testing me left out a lot of the testing areas because she wanted to get on lunch soon.

  3. PRO driving school ftw! Just book an hour or two so they can see how you drive and then they'll tell you whether or not you are ready for your G test so you don't waste your money! :)

  6. Super easy.. Some back parking, parallel parking and don't run yellow lights. I'm Asian and still got perfect :/

  7. There's no reverse parking for the one in Waterloo/Kitchener. I also did it with Canada Pro (or whatever). I did about 5 lessons and yeah they take you on the course. You should be fine :)

  8. G test: lane changes, parallel parking, entering and exiting the highway (plus a lane change on the highway) and reversing into a parking spot.
I went with Dominion driving school. I got to use their car, plus get a discount in my insurance. I did take extra classes though for which I has to personally pay the instructor.

  9. I did my G-test last spring. One important thing to practice to do the test out of the Kitchener center is entering onto the 7/8 from Edna, heading south. They like to dock a lot of marks for not being up to speed once you merge onto the highway, and it's a VERY short entry ramp. I would've appreciated having taken that ramp at least once so that I was aware of how short it was.

Also, you need to know how to do an emergency stop. They'll tell you to do one. Signal right, pull over, car in park, hazards on (make sure you know where they are), headlights off. Make sure you signal left to get out of it, and turn your headlights back on.

Otherwise, definitely practice parallel parking, make sure you look both ways at every intersection, the usual stuff. Don't hit any small children.

  11. pretty similar to your G2 test, just with highway added. make sure you speed up to 90 when you get on the highway, my bro failed his first G test cause he didn't speed up enough

Before or after....this will make you safer, Trust me, they will have your jaw dropping repeatedly by what you learn and remember it's not about getting the license, it's about a think safety mentality 24/7. About noticing that a vehicle probably isn't gonna stop for the red as you wait to make that left turn or checking the rear view and seeing that car is not stopping.

There are only two types of accidents, Primary preventable and Secondary preventable. Think about it. I will get out of the right lane and move to the left to let the idiot by who is following me too close, I let him go smash into someone else.
