QUESTION: Have any of you guys missed an exam because you mixed up the days? What was the consequence of this?

My friend was studying for an exam tomorrow, when she just found out it was actually 2 days ago. Now she's freaking out. I'm just wondering how common this is.

  1. Not a valid medical excuse so chances are it counts as a failed. Every faculty has a missed exam policy. Its unfortunate to happen but you really have to stay ontop of which day is which.

  2. Happened to my little brother, he failed the course even though his average was 96 going in lol

He missed it by 2 hours because of some girl that insisted on "helping with his schedule" He's pretty easy going, so his response was:

-2 long shakes to the head-
    "You have disappointed me"

    1. I hope he at least got a blowjob out of it

    2. Your brother said that to himself or to the girl?

And what does "helping with his schedule" mean?

  3. One of my friends in second year missed the exam -- he thought it was at 4:30 when it was actually earlier in the day. After some resistance and no's, the prof let him write it.

  4. This happened to a friend of mine on a varsity team. They had a considerably easy time getting it rearranged to a much more favourable time (i.e. more time to study), simply by telling a coach who talked to the prof on their behalf (I suppose told the prof they were a good kid/student?) before they met with the prof as well to garner sympathy.

    1. What kind of bullshit is that? Special treatment for playing sports?

  5. Talk to the prof. It can't hurt. I knew someone this happened to and the prof let them write.

  6. This happened to me, but I managed to rewrite it the next term without too much trouble. It also helps that I managed to get a VIF back when they weren't superstrict about it in 2009. The prof was also really nice.

  7. I know of a number of people who either missed their exams or even wrote the wrong one... all of them met with the associate dean and got everything fixed up. (math)

    1. Serious question, how do people write the wrong exam without realizing it? What happened?

    2. ^Different profs for the same course have different exams so it is the same content and says the same course information.

  8. I missed a final by a day before and failed the course.
But that was because my marks were low going into the exam.

It depends on the course- sometimes if you fail the exam you fail the course no matter what. Otherwise, if you have a high average going in it might turn out alright.

As others have said, some profs might be sympathetic.
I had another course where I missed 2 pages of the exam somehow, and the prof let me know and allowed me to come back and finish those pages.
    What a nice guy!

  9. Most of the time you can talk with the faculty and the prof and get it sorted out. Mistakes happen.

  10. Happened to one of my friends...they let him write it and he did well, but when the course ended they cut off his mark at the 60 point or something because of the late-written midterm.
