QUESTION: Could anyone who had Deman tell me what kind of questions to expect on
his final exam for ENGL 208A? He said that it will be easy and based off
lectures, but I'm unsure about the types of questions he will be
asking. Any help would be appreciated!
50 questions and he accept one words answers. I've had him for two classes and that was the format for both of them. When I had The Rebel with him, I finished the exam in 25 minutes.
ReplyDeleteAnd the questions are typically about general plot points, characters' names and even questions like, "Who wrote "100 Days of Solitude?" There are usually only a couple of questions about theoretical concepts covered in the class (e.g. Repressive vs. Ideological State Apparatuses, Tolkien's "On Faerie Stories,")
ReplyDeleteWere you trying to refer to "100 Years of Solitude" or is that actually another book playing on the title?
DeleteI remember in particular that there was a question about how the hobbits defeat the barrow-wights.
ReplyDeleteI never took an ENGL course through my undergrad, but there are actually exams that test on plot points more heavily than theory underpinnings?
ReplyDeleteChrist.
Sounds worse than high-school English.
