OP here. Flume's pretty sick. Never heard of the others. I'm really into Kaytranada, Cashmere Cat, Ryan Hemsworth, Disclosure, RL Grime, Stooki Sound and Diplo right now.
I've gotta say, Flume is pretty meh for me. Lots of artists doing similar things and I'm surprised that he's the one that blew up. I like your taste OP, just saw Kaytranada last month at the Hoxton. I've been listening to a lot of TNGHT, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, and SCNTST.
Flumes got some good stuff. His one Disclosure remix is sick. Nice, I was at the show as well. Sick set. I love TNGHT too but they're trying too hard to be exclusive and not putting enough stuff out to keep me listening. Hudson is dope, saw him a few times and same with his TNGHT partner Lunice. Rustie is pretty good and never heard of SCNTST; I'll check him out though. Do you like Baauer or RL Grime at all? They're doing a B2B at the Hoxton on the 30th, going to be live.
Thanks! I agree with TNGHT, they need to put out more music, but they're probably working on a lot of stuff now that they're working with Kanye, especially Hudmo. SCNTST is really great, 19 year old German who's doing some amazing industrial techno stuff. Tbh, I've liked what I've heard, but I guess I've been sleeping on them a bit. And yeah that seems sick, too bad I'm busy/it's sold out.
I honestly hate that Hudmo is working with Kanye. This new Kanye is a dickhead. Hudmo's been making a lot of moves lately. Yeah I checked him out, and he's pretty good, raw sound but it's good. Check out karma kid, you might like him
I'm just happy for Hudmo and the recognition he's getting. As long as he keeps making great music, I guess it doesn't really bother me. Hmm looked up some of his songs, it's chill but not entirely a unique sound to me. Btw what are your thoughts on the Brainfeeder children (aka Flylo, Tokimonsta, etc) and Onra and Ta-ku? I'm really digging their style right now.
Yeah I'm happy for him but I don't need him becoming too self entitled. Nothing original under the sun, everyone's sound is similar here and there. But fair. Yeah, love lotus saw him at sound academy in the summer but Tokimonsta took some time for me to get into. Onra is dope; his boiler room got me hooked. Taku is the man; really underrated in my mind
I've been listening to mostly mixes/ radio shows as of recent; a little bit of Four Tet, couple boiler room mixes as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEjHxIrytUw http://www.deepvibes.co.uk/tempsite/index.php
Yeah same, I'm mostly into mixes these days. A lot of boiler room ones but I'm selective about them. Also LFTF mixes, Diplo and Friends, SSENSE and some others. They're my go to mixes. The YouTube channels Majestic Casual and Selected are good too; a lot of sweet stuff on those.
Deephouse (its really based on how deep your willing to go) : Heidi , Kyle Hall, Nick Holder Jaidene Veda, Jimpster, Theo Parrish, Omar S, Matthew Herbert, Overcast Sounds
OP. Haha, they're jokes. Hurt is a great tune. Check out suicideyear the guy who produced "hurt". He's got some dope sounds. Any one like Tommy Kruise? Dude's got some tunes
Speaking about all this, I remember when Beta opened in Waterloo, I thought they were going to play this type of stuff every now and then, but it seems like they're sticking to the top 40/ generic house music
I hear you. I've asked them a few times whether they'd ever change it up but they told me there isn't enough of a demand in the university town for them to fill the room so they stay clear of it. I'm sure there's enough demand though
I don't know if I'm outdated but I've been in love with Flume, Sonnse, Das Kapital and Phonotek lately
ReplyDeleteOP here.

I'm a trap fan, but I think you mean something different.
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean?
DeleteI think OP was talking about all those different genres not one specifically. Not having an "and" in front of trap may be confusing to some
