QUESTION: Has anyone actually joined a dance lesson offered through Waterloo? Ie bellydance, contemporary, or salsa? I wanna give it a try for fun and exercise, but I'm a complete noob at dancing. What are your experiences like?

  1. the cuban salsa club is great! I started last year as a new years resolution cause I was tired of not being able to move at all. It's hands down my favourite club on campus.

  2. It really depends on the teacher. A lot of them are students as well and some know how to teach, some don't. So it's really hit and miss. I've heard great experiences from others, but personally I did jazz and the teacher wasn't very good. The steps were really basic and childish, and this is coming from someone that is a complete noob in dancing as well. So just make sure to ask around!

  3. Salsa club is really fun! They take things pretty slowly too, and are willing to go over things with you if you don't know what you're doing.

  4. I have to agree with the Cuban Salsa club, too! I started last year and made some new friends while learning to dance :) Probably the more fun dance class I've tried on campus.

  6. I've done belly dancing. The teacher I had was really friendly and open to people of all levels. I'm a shy person and wanted to try something different but I was really comfortable in that class.

  7. Give Cuban Salsa club a try! They are amazing! I have two left feet and still enjoy these lessons. Valentin and Aldo (the instructors) are great and they take the time to explain everything every move. For me, its the one part of my week that I'm really looking forward to.
