QUESTION: Girls of Waterloo: What are you more attracted to, tall and thin/average build or short and muscular (i.e., no neck and can bench press you into next week)?
OMG SAME. I don't like tall and skinny OR short and muscular. I like big and tall guys. Not obese big, just big burly tall guys with beards. The kind of guys that remind you of bears or lumberjacks. And I LIKE chest hair. Preferably dark hair (brown/black)
I am fairly tall and thin myself (5'6" and 120 lbs) and I am attracted to males over 6'0" with a lean muscular build. For some reason it's kinda scary when guys are too muscular.
So you are 6 inches above the average 7h, equivalent to a 6'3 male - which is pretty tall.
And considering that tall women are noticed more considering women are "supposed" to be short and men tall that effect is accentuated (making it equal to say a 6'5 man).
7.h Here. Well crap! :/ I guess I am pretty tall, or giant, but I being "accentuated" has never been a bad thing for me. Plus, being tall given me the blessing of runway ready long legs; So I'm not even mad!
I like tall guys, over 6' (although I'm only 5'2" but that seems to be what I find attractive) and fit medium build. They have to have muscle but not The Rock style, just health active muscle.. yum...
Because such specimens are difficult to find and combine that with other desirable traits such as not a douche, decently intelligent, caring, funny, and personable...
and very important factor here: doesn't already have a girlfriend...
chances of finding such an individual is... difficult to say the least
... so as a tall, muscular male with stated desirable traits (for the most part of course) who doesn't have a girlfriend, I am some kind of manly unicorn? Fuck yeah!
Okay OP, imma lay it down for you. The answers here are what everyone THINKS they want in a guy. But the actual real-life scenario is very very different.
Take me for example. I, too, as an inexperienced teenager thought that I wanted a 6"+ muscular, body-hairless, chiseled adonis, but real life is not like that.
Instead, I met a fantastic guy who is amazingly smart, charming, witty, and also a 5'8" somewhat hairy guy with a thicker build. He takes very good care of himself and is very fit, always dresses sharp and smells incredible. And I love him to bits. I would never trade him for what I originally thought I wanted in a million years.
So OP, even though you might not be seeing the answers here that you are hoping to see, just know that most girls are not going to outright say they want shorter, hairier men, because they are basing their answers entirely on an ideal media-portrayal of what they should want, not on real people with real personalities. Someday they will likely end up with someone NOT as they described, and still be incredibly happy.
Stop with the "media ideal portrayal" shit. The only people that are brainwashed by media narratives are naive, ignorant people with no media literacy or class consciousness, and are incapable of self-thought.
So unless you're saying all girls are too stupid to formulate their own opinions and are powerless against being brainwashed by media narratives, this is not an issue. Cut it out.
^ Not true. Every "prince charming" in existence, in the western world, is fair skinned with fair hair, no body hair, tall, chiseled, strong, handsome. Little girls are brainwashed with this ideal as soon as they start watching Disney movies or playing with Barbie and Ken dolls.
It is definitely an issue, because even though eventually people understand that this isn't realistic, it is still what they will declare is their "ideal" man. Without these expectations being set at such a young age, I can only imagine our own ideas of an "ideal" man would be much more diverse.
Not true.. I like tall fit guys (see post 8) and that's what I always find attractive. .. my current bf and my ex both fit the criteria but they're also both have dirty blond/ light brown hair (always thought I'd want a guy with black hair) and they're both really amazing guys btw.
Point being, while we can surprise ourselves by falling completely in love with people that are different from our adolescent "dream man", it is stupid to assume that all girls other than your highness don't know what they want or can't find the whole package or to assume that they don't already have what they're describing. It's nice that you're trying to cheer OP up but you could have phrased this without doing so at other people's expense.
13 here. I fail to see where I assumed that all girls didn't know what they want, or did anything at someone's "expense".
I said "most" girls, which I personally believe is true. Obviously everyone is different and all that, but I had figured that much was obvious and I wouldn't need to include that disclaimer. Clearly people can't make that assumption for themselves these days and so now I have to do it. So here you go.
Also, I think you are the exception, not the rule, when it comes to ending up with someone who just happens to "fit the criteria". My point is that most people's criteria aren't realistic, at least not in such a way where there is enough of a certain "type of guy" to go around to every girl who like that type, ESPECIALLY when you factor in personality and compatibility and all that fun stuff.
People can build up an ideal picture of the type of guy they want to end up with in their head, but the fact is that MANY of these people will not end up with that type of guy. I think you need to look at it from an objective point of view instead of "well I posted a description of the traits of my two most recent boyfriends so clearly what 13 is saying is meant as a personal attack to me by saying I don't know what I want". Because right now you sound a little overly sensitive and ridiculous, and by a completely logical supply/demand standpoint, I am right.
Preferably taller than me (5"8.5). Everything else literally completely depends on their personality. Also, don't be too fat/obese. I know I sound like a cunt but I have a disgust of fat on myself and others.
Some short guys are really cute/ hot.. honestly, the only thing that is initially "unattractive" about them is the height but I think it can become endearing .. I usually find myself attracted to tall guys but I've definitely been attracted to short ones too.. at the end of the day, as long as the guy is 4" taller than me I'm ok with it (I'm 5'2" and I'd like to comfortably wear 3" heels) and there's a lot more to you than height, so embrace it <3
Taller than me (5'8" to 6'0" is optimal) and average build? Not looking like a starving student or like you're taking steroids is nice.
ReplyDeletetall!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTall and thin build

I get wet just thinking about these dudes.
6b: I comb my chest hair to make it extra soft for girls like you :)

ReplyDeleteI'm a 6'2 beanpole. We should meetup and you can try to knock me over and shit
Delete5'6" classifies as tall now?
Delete7.b for a woman 5'6" is a bit above average.
Delete5'8" woman here, 5'6" is not tall at all because even 5'8" isnt.
DeleteI'm 5'2, everything is tall to me :)
Delete7a. I like your style.
Delete+1 7e
DeleteI agree with 7.d.I'm a 5'10" woman, so if 5'6" is tall, I am a freaking giant.
DeleteAverage height in Canada:
DeleteMale - 5 ft 9 in
Female - 5 ft 4 in
So you are 6 inches above the average 7h, equivalent to a 6'3 male - which is pretty tall.
And considering that tall women are noticed more considering women are "supposed" to be short and men tall that effect is accentuated (making it equal to say a 6'5 man).
Some would say that is "giant".
Not to mention that there are a lot of Asian female (shorter on average) at Waterloo, so that makes you seem taller still.
Deletetl;dr: 5"10 IS really tall for a girl.
@ 7.i and 7j

ReplyDeletehealthy*
DeleteSo as a 5'5 male I really have nothing then no matter how much I work out :(
ReplyDeletemay as well get a sex change
Delete:(
DeleteYou'll find someone
DeleteThere are plenty of short girls. I would totally go for a 5'5" average/skinny build guy. (5'1" girl here)
Delete:)
DeleteOP is a manlet.
ReplyDeleteWhen will they ever learn?
DeleteI like how OP assumes that no woman would ever want a tall and muscular guy or a shorter and thin guy.

Anybody who is about to make a joke that 13 accidentally said 6"-- just don't. Fuck you. You're not funny.
Delete6" plus huh

I like an average-tall guy and with some muscle, but not too much!
ReplyDeleteA little bit of scruff on the face and chest is okay, but back hair is a big no no!
you sound mean
DeleteIf I were short, I would totally go for a manlet......... It's so cute when they try to act tough.
ReplyDeletea manlet probably wouldn't appreciate that comment :P
